Use this page if your main line comes straight from a carrier rather than a hosted phone system. Carrier changes usually go through the carrier’s business portal, its support line, or the vendor who programmed your desk phones.
Your Avoca forwarding number is provided by your Avoca Customer Success Manager or Technical Account Manager.
Star codes vary by line and plan. Confirm them with your carrier before relying on them. Use forward-all only if Avoca should answer every call.

Spectrum Business Voice

  • After hours: in your Spectrum Business account, set the forwarding number for closed hours to your Avoca number.
  • Overflow: Spectrum sets how many rings happen before a call forwards (for example, three rings instead of four). Email the request to Spectrum and copy your Avoca team.
  • Transfers back to your team: ask Spectrum for a reroute number that rings your staff and ends in voicemail. Your Avoca team will use it as the transfer destination.
  • Caller ID: if a phone system (PBX) sits between Spectrum and your desk phones, forwarded calls can arrive showing your number instead of the caller’s. Test on the first day and involve your phone vendor right away if it’s wrong.
  • Star codes: *72 forwards all calls and *73 cancels. Some accounts support *92 and *93 for no-answer forwarding.

Verizon

  • Business line behind ServiceTitan tracking numbers: leave ServiceTitan pointed at your office line. On the Verizon line that rings, set busy and no-answer forwarding to your Avoca number. Don’t use forward-all, and don’t forward the tracking number itself.
  • Avoca answers first: in the Verizon portal, forward to your Avoca number with a 0-second delay. Have the account security answer ready. Test again after hours to confirm the closed-hours schedule took effect.
  • Verizon One Talk: usually managed by your IT person rather than the office. Bring them to the go-live call.
  • Star codes: *71 plus your Avoca number forwards on no answer or busy; *72 forwards all calls; *73 cancels.

MetroNet Business

Forwarding is managed in CommPortal or by MetroNet Business Support, usually by the account admin only. Ask them to set, on the number that receives your calls:
  1. Open hours: ring your office hunt group for 15 to 20 seconds, then forward to your Avoca number on no answer or busy.
  2. Closed hours: forward straight to your Avoca number.
  3. Voicemail: off, or delayed, so it doesn’t answer before Avoca.
  4. Caller ID: keep the caller’s original number on forwarded calls.
On a basic line without a hunt group, *32 forwards after four rings and *82 cancels it. Confirm these details with MetroNet.

Comcast Business VoiceEdge

A shared hunt group can ring everyone at once. It works well as the number Avoca transfers callers to, as long as it ends in voicemail.

T-Mobile

No-answer forwarding is set in 5, 10, or 15-second steps. Ask T-Mobile to set it to your Avoca number.

Test

From a cell phone that is not saved in your systems, call during business hours and let it ring out, then call after hours. Confirm the caller’s number shows on the call.
