Outbound text steps support customer-facing message copy and the variables offered by that workflow’s editor. Available fields depend on the workflow, audience source, and connected CRM.
Personalize a message
- Open the Avoca dashboard.
- Go to Outbound → Workflows and open the relevant text step.
- Insert variables from the editor’s variable picker.
- Add conditional content only when the editor shows that option.
- Preview the rendered message, then validate it with a small, controlled audience. Use a channel-specific test action only when the editor explicitly provides one.
Do not type an invented variable and assume it will resolve. If a required field is empty in the source data, the resulting message may be incomplete; write copy that remains understandable without optional details.
Emojis and extended characters
You can include ordinary text and emojis in message copy. Emojis and some extended characters can change how a carrier segments a message, so keep the message concise and verify it on a real device during testing.
Do not assume that every campaign step supports MMS or attachments. Use media only when the specific editor provides an upload or attachment control for that channel. Otherwise, treat the step as text-only.
Avoca does not promise that a long SMS will automatically become an MMS. Long copy can be split into multiple carrier segments; shorten it when message length matters.
Test links, booking URLs, variables, opt-out copy, and special characters together. A message that looks correct in the editor can still depend on recipient data and carrier handling.
