The one thing to remember: mailing your own existing customers and their neighbors with a relevant, well-targeted offer beats cold, bulk prospecting mail by a wide margin, every time.

What drives results

  • Who you mail matters most. Targeting beats design every time.
  • The offer is second. A clear dollar amount and deadline beats clever copy.
  • Design matters third. Simple and clear wins over polished and vague.
  • Stay targeted, not bulk. Avoid mass-sending to multiple thousands at once, it drives up cost and lowers ROI. A focused list of a few hundred of the right people beats a blast to thousands of the wrong ones. If broad neighborhood coverage is genuinely needed, consider EDDM (Every Door Direct Mail).
  • Send more than once. Build 3-6 mail touches into the workflow for each person, not a single card. This matters most for new prospects, automated radius triggers, and radius blasts, where one mailer rarely closes it alone.
  • Every campaign should end in one action: book an appointment. If a piece can’t be tied to a booked job, skip it.

How direct mail works in Avoca

Mail is a step in a workflow, just like a text. You can add a Mail step to a workflow, or start a New Prospects (Direct Mail) workflow to mail people who aren’t customers yet. The presets are Four Mailers, Two Mailers and Single Mailer. After the first piece, each next mailer goes out 10 days after the one before it is delivered. To reach 3 to 6 touches, add more Mail steps. Ready to build one? See Create a direct mail campaign.
Direct mail is only available if it’s turned on for your account. Ask your Avoca team if you don’t see it.
